When teams return, major changes can be made
Over the past few months, several teams of employees have come to the same site, managed by the Samusocial de Paris. This facility, a former hospital, welcomes people in situations of extreme hardship who require care. The spaces are somewhat empty, and the walls are sometimes dirty. Colour changes everything! And bringing people “from the outside in” is always positive, according to the centre’s director: it creates a disruption in their daily lives, enables contact, a conversation over coffee, and then from one workshop to the next, mistrust fades and a relationship of trust is gradually established. Some residents pick up a paintbrush and take part; others pull up a chair and watch the transformation. By the end of the day, the space has changed—and so has the morale of some.
