How artists inspire us to brighten up dreary hallways

At Ce Que Mes Yeux Ont Vu, we lead workshops for 240 people, but also for groups of 7. Both are equally stimulating! We invited this small—yet highly motivated—team to create a mural in a Salvation Army emergency shelter in Paris, in the 20th arrondissement. We worked beforehand with the social services team to develop a pattern—with Ce Que Mes Yeux Ont Vu providing the artistic direction—select the colors, and find the ideal location for the mural. Following intense preparation over the preceding days, we welcomed the team in the morning to explain the mural’s concept and provide them with several painting techniques. Residents and staff were also invited to participate. The result can be found in the center’s basement corridor leading to the communal showers and shared kitchen.

This time, employees from BNP, via the KCO agency, were the ones picking up the brushes! “Thank you for your work on the creation of the mural. The feedback from residents is positive; it brightens up and brings color to the basement, it is very good.”, Séverine F., Association Aurore
