Reclaiming one's body through image and dance.

Reclaiming one’s body

Active ton portrait offers association beneficiaries a series of workshops centered on art images and movement to reclaim their bodies. The workshop begins with the discovery of portraits drawn from art history. A mind map is used to connect the images and encourage participants to speak: what is identity? Which gestures define identity? They already wish to move and feel their bodies, so the studio work begins, accompanied by a dance mediator. The succession of movements forms a collective choreography. This choreography, rehearsed several times, will be performed in public at a local theater that hosts the workshops. These performance workshops are enriched by two cultural outings: an exhibition visit and a show, which complement the creative work carried out in the workshop. A director films the movements, which become a source of work and documentation of the time spent. “It is an artistic project that allows participants to become aware of their bodies with a dimension of beauty: the physical body and art. This project brought the participants together, just as it brought the social teams together.” Armelle Genevois, Ile-de-France site manager, Sol E association
