Spark an artistic encounter
Once a month, Café Pop’ invites a contemporary artist to meet people staying in an emergency shelter. These special exchanges enable residents to discover an artist, a discipline, and a creative process. They also enable the artist to speak about their work in a different way, to an audience of non-specialists, and to create a unique exchange. Beyond the cultural aspect, the aim is to bring the outside in and, through this recurring appointment, to create a pause in the life of the centre. Based on the principle of a radio programme, these meetings are recorded to build an online audio library accessible to all. Café Pop’ has hosted Franck Scurti, Pierre Delavie and Ronan Bouroullec.
“I was surprised by how accessible these artists were! They were able to create a lovely connection between their story and that of the people staying there.” A social worker, Centre Popincourt, SamuSocial de Paris
